We’re incredibly proud of our talented, diverse, and award-winning team, and we love discovering the adventures they have wherever they are in the world—with colleagues, family, and friends.

In our Employee Spotlight series, we’ll introduce you to the remarkable individuals shaping the world’s most cutting-edge identity platform, and find out more about how they tackle challenges, pursue excellence—and have fun while doing it.

Meet Chris Spitz

With well over a decade of sales experience across Europe and Asia, Chris joined Saviynt in 2022. Here, he embraced the opportunity to make a complete transition from the consumer side to the vendor side, and he’s already closing deals.

Chris immediately fit in at Saviynt’s dynamic and vibrant workplace, excelling in his new role as Sales Development Representative (SDR) of Saviynt’ APAC region. On a regular day, Chris is busy connecting with Sales Directors across the region, bridging the gap across diverse cultures and perspectives in order to bring the benefits of Saviynt to more organizations. And, when he’s not killing it at sales, you can catch him on the “flip” side”—skateboarding, watching F1, and enjoying the sun’s rays in Singapore.

What’s your day-to-day like at Saviynt?

My work day involves sourcing leads from platforms like LinkedIn, ZoomInfo, and Lusha. Utilizing a multifaceted approach that includes emails and calls, I actively participate in various stages of the sales process. But, I don’t go at it alone. My role also involves working closely with other Sales Directors throughout the region, coming together to develop our target lists and refine our sales tactics.

How did you get started in your present day career, and what do you love most about it?

Before joining Saviynt, I had a rewarding 16-year career at Deutsche Bank, spanning across multiple countries throughout Europe and Asia. During my time there, I mainly focused on application penetration testing activities, assessing the strength of the organization’s security by simulating cyberattacks.

However, as the banking industry underwent significant changes—particularly due to the pandemic—I realized it was a “now or never” moment for me. This realization motivated me to make a pretty drastic career change, propelling me to work not just in a new industry, but a new role altogether. Thankfully, my new role as Sales Development Representative at Saviynt still fell under the umbrella of IGA, which—along with a supportive team—helped make the transition a lot easier.

From the moment I started, I found myself loving the energy here, which was a stark contrast to the predictable routine of banking life. All in all, it was a thrilling new chapter in my career, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds.

What goals are you working toward professionally?

Achieving the milestone of closing my first deal for Saviynt this quarter was an important accomplishment for me so far. That being said, I’m eager to continue advancing within the Sales team and seeing what other potential achievements are on the horizon for me.

What’s one workplace rule that you always break and why?

My partner would likely say that I occasionally break my work-life-balance rules. Even though I’m more than free to “sign off”, my laptop is usually nearby. Combined with my curiosity,  I can’t help but check my inbox when I probably should just enjoy the sun here in Singapore!

What advice do you have on managing an increasingly remote workplace?

Despite violating my own work-life balance rules, we all work remotely in Singapore. The whole team has embraced this, as we’re each armed with the tools we need to drive our sales approach despite not having a physical office to meet in.

My one tip, though, is to dress to impress! I have experienced the infamous story of a client who accidentally brought their bed into the Zoom room. So, button up that shirt and ensure your background is meeting-ready, no matter how comfortable you are with your colleagues.

Speaking of, we still always find the time to meet up outside of work, which helps us to get to know one another beyond the screen.

What’s something about you that not many people know?

I’m German and part of the German community here in Singapore. So, at least once a year you might catch me in my Lederhosen at Oktoberfest. But, rest-assured, I’m not wearing them at any other occasion (including those Zoom calls!)

What shows or books have you recently binge-watched or read and why?

Great question! Shoe Dog, by Phil Knight. It’s a great book that’s not just about creating a global business empire, but also a testament to the human spirit’s capacity for resilience when attempting to pursue a dream. His storytelling makes for a compelling and motivational read that was a true page-turner for me.

What do you do when you aren’t working at Saviynt?

Skateboarding is my go to (it’s the one item I can’t live without). And, living in Singapore, it definitely helps me do it more as we have summer temperatures all year long. I’m also a huge fan of F1, and it was such an amazing experience to have our Saviynt Connect fall at the same time as F1, which took place here in Singapore this year.

Otherwise, I love to be in nature and hangout at the beach. Singapore has an incredible coastline, but I also love to check out other beaches around the region. I love sand and the sea, so the next place on my bucket list is anything which has a nice beach. For me, French Polynesia is high on the list and a place that I’d definitely want to visit. It’s still quite a long journey though from Singapore; though, much closer than Germany.

My skateboard is the one item I can’t live without, and I love being at the beach.

If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

I would choose anything Italian, especially the Mediterranean diet. I lived in Italy once upon a time and loved the variety of foods. Trust me, there’s much more than just pizza and pasta; I couldn’t believe how fresh the produce always was.

What would you say to someone considering working for Saviynt?

To go with Nike: “Just Do It”. Easy as that.  I felt welcome from the beginning and everyone on the APAC team especially was very supportive in guiding me to feel successful here.

For me personally, the transition into my role at Saviynt has not only brought me to an exceptional team, but a workplace that constantly keeps me on my toesa far cry from the predictable routine of banking. My only regret is that I wish I’d made the change sooner. This organization has not just opened doors; it’s opened up a whole new world of excitement, adventure, and incredible connections.”
