At Saviynt, our people are the engines behind our success. When you visit any of our offices around the world, you’ll meet a tight-knit community of gifted innovators who go above and beyond to help our customers succeed. We’re proud of their dedication to solving exciting challenges, driving the best platform in the industry, and pursuing their passions — on and off the clock.

Each month in our Employee Spotlight series, we’re putting the faces with the names behind the world’s smartest, identity-driven enterprise solution.

Meet Valeria Zepeda,  Recruiting Coordinator, Talent Acquisition

Valeria Zepeda began her role at Saviynt Recruiting for our Professional Services division teams in the US and EMEA, as well as our General and Administration division. She supports these teams with managing applicants, conducting interviews, providing documentation, hiring and onboarding new employees.

How did you get started in your present career?

After graduating from UCLA, I knew I wanted to pursue my passion for career development. Lucky for me, I found a role as a recruiter with an agency as my first job. This job allowed me to strengthen my skills in all of the many-faceted aspects of career development: recruiting applicants, interviewing candidates, placement, job posting, hiring, Human Resources, and other areas. It’s a job that requires a real focus on matching the right people with the right opportunities, and when it’s done right, it is very rewarding.

Someone I admire very much here at Saviynt told me about the leadership and the team in Recruiting for Professional Services. The more I learned, the more I knew Saviynt was the right move for me. Thanks to this great referral and to the wonderful people I work with, Saviynt has helped me grow and develop my skills as a recruiter.

Tell us a little bit about what you do each day at Saviynt.

I earned my “stripes” as a Saviynt Recruiting Coordinator scheduling candidates, creating reports for the team, administrating our applicant tracking system, and other duties. I quickly advanced and grew into my new role as a Techincal Recruiter supporting the Professional Services and General Administration divisions. The Professional Services team is so friendly — they’ve been instrumental in helping me understand the nuts and bolts of identity and access management.

Any advice on how to work effectively in an increasingly remote world?

Although it might be easier to connect without video when doing a Zoom call, I advise connecting with video on as much as possible. Seeing the people you are meeting with helps create a more personal experience for everyone. I also like to ask others how they’re doing as well as what they’re working on. I learn so much about other peoples’ jobs and what they like about them — and that helps me gain insight into the bigger picture and what the rest of the company is up to! Not only is this more fun, it also makes me a better recruiter.

What honors, awards or commendations have you won recently?

After training to support the professional services team as a Technical Recruiter, my colleagues presented me with the “Deliver Results Spot Award” from Saviynt for achieving some pretty great outcomes.

What do you do when you aren’t working at Saviynt?

I have a few hobbies like dancing, camping, and gardening. And I like to volunteer some of my free time connecting with latina college students via two Universities. When I went to UCLA for my bachelors, I was able to participate in the Latino Alumni OrgullOSO program where I had a Mentor that would talk to me about career options in the “real world.”

Also at UCLA, I joined Phi Lambda Rho a Chicana Latina-based sorority. When I moved to Pomona, learned that the Cal Poly Pomona Chapter had just started and needed support. So I decided to jump in, support with events and encouragement for graduation completion. This is a win-win for me because I’m making friends in the area and continuing to support latinas in higher education.

This year, I decided to return to the OrgullOSO program as a Mentor. I like to stay in touch with them after school so I can support them in their next journey. We chat about the job market and job opportunities post-graduation!

However, I can say my favorite way to relax is cuddling with my dogs!

Everyone is welcome at Saviynt HQ!

Can you recall the last time you laughed so hard you cried?

This Christmas! My cousin and I gave the exact same gift to all our cousins — and to each other! It was crazy: every single one of us had the same present. My cousin’s laugh is so contagious, so we were all in stitches.
