Saviynt Employee Spotlight: David Bublitz

Written by Lorrie Cowan | Jul 30, 2021 7:00:00 AM

There’s been a cultural shift in the way we think about work. As new work-from-home challenges arose in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, companies and employees increased focus on healthy boundaries to promote not only productivity, but general happiness and wellbeing. Organizations that fostered mutual respect and understanding have earned a more sustainable, purpose-driven workforce.

At Saviynt, we support our global team by instilling openness and transparency; where our goals are clear and their ideas are valued. Each member has a unique impact on the solutions we provide to help secure and modernize some of the world’s largest companies. Together, we overcome challenges to continue leading the industry in innovation — and we’re proud to spotlight some of the leaders who make it happen.

What’s your role at Saviynt? What does a typical day look like?

My number one goal is to help the Sales Directors achieve our goals and expand revenue. I think of my role like this baseball analogy: I’m not on the field playing, but rather operating from the dugout as the bench coach. I work closely with the players — our Sales Directors and team — to understand the situation in front of us and guide us towards the right play. “This pitcher throws X on the first pitch,” or “this outfielder usually plays deep; see if you can get in front.” That’s similar to the insight I provide on who to reach and how to engage.

I’m not in a cubicle, and I’m not working next to the same people day-to-day. There’s a range of cultures and stakeholders I encounter while supporting our teams, and I love learning about their goals and how I can set them up for success.

How about your background — what brought you to Saviynt?

I come from a customer experience background, with a focus on healthcare and pharmacy. I had been working in a hospital environment, which is where I learned more about health sector data breaches and the world of cybersecurity. Our hospital and so many others were having consistent difficulties. And once I spent some time researching, I discovered the range of tools and protocols that exist, but weren’t being utilized.

A friend of mine introduced me to Saviynt after moving to California to build the SDR/Growth team, and I jumped at the opportunity to try something new and exciting.

How has Saviynt challenged you to grow?

It’s something new every day. I serve the Midwest, but also Eastern Canada. So if there’s an event affecting a particular region, we’ve got to know how to pivot and be comfortable with the new and unexpected. We also get new tools for the job, like HighSpot, and pushing myself to master them helps me stay at the top of my game.

What’s something you’re proud of at Saviynt?

The flexibility. Saviynt was a pioneer of remote working before it was a requirement, and they continue to encourage us to work however we feel most capable. That’s been huge, to be able to stay near family and maintain that side of life without being tethered to a particular city or office. This says a lot about how Saviynt sees us, and it’s a major reason I’m inclined to recommend open roles to others.

What excites you about the future with Saviynt?

Our rapid growth has been awesome to see. We’re reaching a different dynamic with our positioning, where solutions that were good ideas a few years ago are getting the packaging and promotion they deserve. I’m especially excited about our developments with Cloud PAM and where that’s headed.

It’s also good to know that Saviynt is still in a state where we’re able to move upwards or try new things. There’s no extensive hiring committee or bureaucracy to stifle momentum. If you do good work and build trust, you’ll continue to grow and succeed.

How would you describe the community at Saviynt?

I’ve learned a lot from working with this diverse group of directors and teams, and I’m looking forward to meeting more of them. With so much on everyone’s plates — especially with the pandemic — it’s been an exciting challenge to come together and find creative solutions. It’s been all hands on deck, and each time our team grows, there’s added motivation because our effort is reflected by Saviynt’s leadership in the industry.

What advice would you give to someone looking to join Saviynt?

Just like most companies, we’ve temporarily lost some of the familiar occasions to meet and work face-to-face. We’re dealing with some unknowns. Be prepared for an adventure, but understand that you’ll have a supportive network of teammates and leadership to help navigate. I can attest to the family-like atmosphere. It’s reassuring to know that even if it feels like things are running off course, there are people nearby who have your back.
