As a global leader in sustainable energy and solar panel production, First Solar manages 7,500 employee identities and upwards of 11,000 total identities across 70 global locations.

As part of First Solar’s mission to focus on future renewable energy, they manufacture solar panels, build utility scale plants, and manage solar plants on behalf of utilities.

First Solar was struggling with multiple challenges concerning the governing of identities and access across their hybrid IT landscape. Compromised visibility across the ecosystem made it hard to efficiently govern access to critical applications, and time-consuming manual processes and a sometimes cumbersome user experience acted as barriers to their cloud strategy. They needed an updated platform solution including universal rules for defining roles and identities, and tools for governing and documenting user behavior across multiple legacy and cloud products.
